  • Royal Shakespeare Company Project

    Fri 30 Nov 2018 Miss O'Neill

'On the 21st of November, Year 5 and 6 watched the live performance of Romeo and Juliet in the morning. We all enjoyed it because the play was more of a modern day version of it and we are now part of the RSC project.' (Teira Year 6)

We are now part of an exciting project, running in conjunction with The Royal Shakespeare Company.

Many of you will know that our oldest children regularly perform Shakespeare plays as their end of Year performance. We are usually lucky enough to be invited to perform at the Theatre at OSA, which provides our children with an amazing opportunity to experience the thrill of giving a real performance. OSA are thrilled to have been selected as an RSC Associate School this year—one of only 25 in the country- and we will have the privilege of working with them on this project. This began with a live screening from the RSC of Romeo and Juliet - our study for this year.

  • Christingle 2018

    Fri 30 Nov 2018 Miss O'Neill

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the beginning of Christingle celebrations. Christingle collections raise millions of pounds each year to provide a network of services all over the country for vulnerable children who feel they have no one they can turn to for help

Please join us at Church this Sunday 2nd December at 4pm for a peaceful and atmospheric start to the festive season. The service lasts about 40 minutes and includes readings by our children, songs and the lighting of the Christingles which Y5 and 6 made today.

An exciting delivery arrived in Year 5 and 6 today as over 60 new books were kindly donated by Friends of Acton School (FOAS). The collection includes new titles which will increase the reading options for our older children and provide them with many more opportunities to reach their Accelerated Reader targets.

Thank you, on behalf of the Penguins and Wolves, to FOAS for the donation and to everyone who has supported a FOAS event in the past.

  • Anti-Bullying Week 2018

Fri 16 Nov 2018 Mr. Gray
Today was the end of Anti-Bullying week so, after our assembly (which featured The Jungle Book and a rap about odd socks!), we spent the day working in our 'family groups' on a range of creative activities with a theme of 'Respecting Others'. We invited our parents and carers in at the end of the day to have a look at our fantastic artwork. Click here to read more and see the photos.

  • STEM Olympiad

    Fri 09 Nov 2018 Miss O'Neill
On Monday, a group of Year 5 girls represented our school at the STEM Olympiad at Old Buckenham Hall School. The girls worked conscientiously through the Science Challenge, the Maths Challenge, the ICT Challenge and the Engineering Challenge. They persevered and worked well as a team, and I was extremely proud of all of them. Well done, girls!
  • Remembrance Day

    Fri 09 Nov 2018 Miss O'Neill
This morning, the whole school community gathered together to remember those who have given their lives in the armed forces, both in the past and still today. We were thrilled to welcome two Lance Corporals from our local barracks to talk to the children and to read in assembly.
  • British Legion Poppy Collection

Thu 08 Nov 2018 Mr. Gray

Our Year 6 children have been busy selling poppies, rulers and reflectors to raise money for the British Legion as part of the Centenary Remembrance Day appeal.

During the week leading up to Armistice Day, we have had assemblies to remember those that gave so much both on the battlefield and at home. On Friday, we will be joined by Paratroopers from the Colchester Barracks as we hold a 2 minutes silence.
