  • KS2 Assessment Results

Mon 23 Jul 2018 Mr. Gray

We are extremely proud to publish our provisional end of KS2 SATs results.

86% of the class reached the Expected Standard in Reading and Maths (compared to the National Average of 75% and 76% respectively), 77% reached the Expected Standard in writing (in line with the National Average) and 73% reached the Expected Standard in Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar (and 16% increase on last year). Overall 77% of the children reached the Expected Standard in Reading, Writing and Maths which is higher than the National Average (64%).

Our Year 6 children have worked incredibly hard over their time in Key Stage 2 and, as a result, they have produced these amazing results. They should be proud their efforts as they have shown that perseverance and determination does really pay off!

  • School Games Bronze Award

Thu 19 Jul 2018 Mr. Gray

We are delighted to announce that we, Acton CEVC Primary School, have achieved the School Games Bronze Mark Award for the 2017/18 academic year. The School Games Mark is a Government led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community, and we are delighted to have been recognised for our success. Our sporting achievements this year include winning the U11 Girls Sudbury Football competition and finishing 6th in the Suffolk Finals; finishing as runners up in the area finals in the U11 Mixed Football competition, coming 2nd in the Sportshall Athletics competition and qualifying for the area finals (which unfortunately clashed with a school trip); as well as competing in rounders, mixed and girls cricket; and Quadkids athletics against schools in the local area.

With a total of young people competing in local inter-school competitions this year, we are extremely proud of our pupils for their dedication to all aspects of school sport, including those young volunteers, leaders and officials who made our competitions possible. As part of our application, we were asked to fulfil criteria in the areas of participation, competition, workforce and clubs, and we are pleased that the hard work of everyone at our school has been rewarded this year. A special thanks to Prestige Sports for our after schools clubs and all of the parents who have supported (and transported) the children to events.

  • Summer Reading Challenge

Thu 19 Jul 2018 Mr. Gray
This week we were visited by Sue and Christine from Long Melford library who told us all about the exciting Summer 'Mischief Makers' Reading Challenge. To complete the challenge and earn stickers, bags and special pens, 6 books must be read over the summer holidays. Visit Long Melford Library to sign up and join in the fun!
  • FOAS Summer Fayre

    Sun 15 Jul 2018 Miss O'Neill

On Friday 6th July, on a hot summer evening, our local community joined the pupils, families and staff to enjoy some traditional summer fun. A range of activities, games and crafts kept all generations absorbed, and it was lovely to see our old friends - past staff and pupils - and to see how well they are doing. A huge THANK YOU to the FOAS team for all their hard work in preparing and running this event. Around £1000 was raised at the Fayre, which will be put towards our new outdoor classroom.
