Year 1 Owls

Weekly news from Owl Class 15.6.18

This week in Owl Class the children have all worked very hard and have shown great perseverance when completing the ‘Phonics Screening Check’. All the adults are very proud of all the children and we have enjoyed our teddy’s bears picnic yesterday, as a reward for their effort over the week.

We have also finished writing our Tiger facts; we worked on letter formation, as well as including some challenging words. Our next unit of work in literacy is ‘Fairy tales’.

A big thank you to Miss Fuller, Mrs Anderson and Gilly for completing some lovely art work with the children over the week.

News

In Owls this week we have been very busy, in literacy we have been writing facts about Owls to finish our non-fiction texts unit. We have been working on letter formation and using plurals within our sentences.

In phonics we have been learning our new phase five sounds. They are very tricky but we have not given up and we have managed to blend and segment words with them in. We must keep spotting those digraphs and trigraphs in words!

In maths we have be learning to count forward and back from a given number. We even looked at bigger numbers within 100 and sometimes we counted on more than one at a time.

Have a lovely half term break from Owl Class! See you all on the 19th February!

Thank you to those parents who joined us this afternoon, thank you for sharing your school memories. The children really enjoyed hearing your stories!
