  • Royal Approval

Mon 04 Jul 2022 Mr. Gray

We have received a very special message from Jennie Bond, who has heard about our fantastic Jubilee Garden. The children were so excited to watch the message, especially as it was from someone who has met the Queen and the Royal Family (and been the BBC's Royal Correspondent). To watch the full message, please click here.

  • Fluffy and the Roller Coaster

Mon 20 Jun 2022 Mr. Gray

Jemima in Year 3 entered a competition to write a 500 word owl-themed story as part of the ‘Big Hoot’ Ipswich, which is a art trail around Ipswich to raise money for St. Elizabeth Hospice. The judges were so impressed with Jemima’s entry, titled ‘Fluffy and the Roller Coaster’, that they included in the final Owl Anthology with other children’s work across the county. Well done Jemima

  • School Closure in 1918 - Update

    Thu 11 Jun 2020 Miss O'Neill
Thank you to Governor Roger Boulton, who managed to locate some information about Miss Oddy. Here you can see her retirement announcement in the Suffolk and Essex Free Press on March 29th 1945,  after 48 years working at Acton School!
  • School Closure in 1918

Fri 05 Jun 2020 Mr. Gray
When we were tidying some boxes at school, we found some excerpts from the Headteacher's Log Book. This was a book which the Headteacher would write about key events which happened at the school. These entries are particularly relevant as it is about the Spanish Flu Pandemic in 1918. During this time the school was ordered to be closed as people were really poorly - just like today! It tells us that 43 children (from the 91 who attended) were ill with the flu before the school closed. We don't know who Miss Oddy is so a little more research may be needed.
  • School Games Bronze Award 2018/19

Mon 22 Jul 2019 Mr Gray
We are pleased to announce that we have achieved our School Games Bronze Award for 2018/19. This is the second year we have achieved this award. It celebrates our successful year of intra-school and inter-school sport - including nearly 80% of our Y5/6 girls representing the school at an inter-school event.
  • Romeo and Juliet

Tue 16 Jul 2019 Mr. Gray

Following weeks of rehearsals, the Wolves took the stage at The New Wolsey Theatre, Ipswich, to take part in the Royal Shakespeare Regional Showcase.

We took part in the performance of Romeo and Juliet, which was the finale to a project running over the whole year, alongside 4 other schools. Each school had a short section of the play to perform which when combined created the whole play.

It was truly an amazing experience and one which will live long in the memories of the cast, their parents and the rest of the audience.

  • Sports Day 2019

    Sun 30 Jun 2019 Miss O'Neill
On Friday, the whole school took part in an energetic day full of team games and individual races. During the morning, the children won points for their house team by working together on football skills, balance beam, howler throw and many more activities. After a family picnic lunch, with a delicious 'Pick and Mix' option provided by Sarah and the kitchen team, the individual races began. Running races and obstacle races were followed by relays and the 600m race for our oldest children. Blue team were the eventual overall winners, although the competition was extremely close. Thank you, Mr Gray for organising such an exciting day!
  • Prayer Space Day

    Sun 30 Jun 2019 Miss O'Neill
On Thursday, 27th June, Lesley from Future Vision led class workshops for the whole school based on the theme of the 23rd Psalm - The Lord is my Shepherd. The Year 5 and 6 classrooms were transformed into an oasis of calm, with lots of different activities to enjoy based on reflection and peace. It was even possible to spend the session quietly listening to nature sounds, whilst watching the glitter tubes run through. It was an extremely successful day, and was thoroughly enjoyed by all the classes. Thank you Lesley, Gerry, Norma, Ruth and Rev Caroline.
