The birds around Acton School are very lucky!

As you know Razzle and Dazzle made their home in our bird box , they raised a family of five bluetits. ( for a reminder, scroll down to the bottom of this page)

It would be lovely to see them come back to feed in our grounds, and I am sure once they see the fantastic new top for the bird table...they WILL be back!

A big Thank you to Harvey and his Dad, who worked very hard building it together over the weekend!

Also Thank you to Daniel's Grandad for donating this new bird house!

Tuesday 13th July

Today it was Transfer day! Most of our Year 4 children went to visit their new Middle Schools and we all spent the day in our new classes.

Mrs Payne had her 9 new entrants (the full timers) who will be joining Acton School in September.

They had a VERY busy day, covering all 6 areas of the Foundation Stage.

Here are some photographs......

On Saturday it was the Acton Village Show. Here is our own Reception Princess who was chosen to open the show.

Also Ella from Year 2 won the cup for her rock buns!

Well done to everyone from school who took part in our village show!

Friday 2nd July 2010

Today was a VERY important date for us to remember! It was exactly 30 years today since our school building opened. (The old Acton school is now a house in the High Street)

Mrs Moye (our chair of Governors) was extremely kind....she made EVERYONE in the school, their very own bun (with their initials on!!!) to celebrate the occasion! So after our Friday afternoon assembly, we stayed in the Hall to eat our buns! They were delicious!!!

Thank you Mrs Moye!

30.04.2010

We are really pleased to report that Razzle and Dazzle seem to be doing REALLY well in our nest box! Razzle is spending a lot of time in it now, so we hope she has started to sit on the eggs! We saw Dazzle pop in today to feed her!

We will keep you informed as to when the baby birds are hatched!

04.05.2010

Over the weekend, Mrs Beeton was VERY  clever... she discovered a different camera angle, so NOW we have a much better view of Razzle, her nest, her 10 eggs and we have seen Dazzle visiting!

This week we were delighted to see the first of the eggs hatching!!!

Here are Razzle and Dazzle busy feeding their new babies.

We think there are 9!

Well,5 baby bluetits hatched successfully and have been growing very fast over the last couple of weeks. Razzle and Dazzle  have been kept really busy taking care of them.

Then on Wednesday 2nd June at 8.35am the last baby bird flew the nest!!!!

Here she goes, out  into the big wide world!!!!

Well, here they are now!

Haven't they grown!!!!

Today, at Acton School, we were greeted by a message from Yoda! Then, at the entrance to the Hall, there were two fantastic models of C3P0 and R2D2, created by Mr Moore and some helpers from Year3!

May the 'Fourth' be with You!

We had a very busy day, problem solving in many different ways!

Below are some photographs of what we did!

We made Star Wars character masks A trio of Yodas!

Can you guess who they are?

Who is this?
Repeating patterns of Star Wars Characters Using shapes, following patterns to make structures  can be tricky!  Well Done!
We made Bipods(2legs) and Tripods (3 legs) and worked out how many of each we would need to get 23 legs! We followed numbers to colour in star wars characters carefully. How many different shapes can you make by using 5 multilink?
Some Year 3 boys used the multilink to make their initials!
We played logic games  It was fun playing with the figures
We enjoyed using the lego to create our own space crafts.
Some of the challenges in the relay in the Hall were VERY tricky! We had to concentrate and think very hard!
Locating planets on the Galaxy Grid Make your own Star ship Top Trumps
Origami R2D2, Storm Trooper and Dodecahedron. Fuel cells calculation and how much fuel in the cells?
There were Star Wars characters and Star Wars facts all around the school!

We had an amazing day! Thank you very much to all the Mums, Dads, Grandmas and friends who came in to work with us, and a Big thank you to Natalie and Rachel and all their helpers in the kitchen, for a delicious lunch. Last, but not least a HUGE thank you to Mrs Rawlings for organising it all and bringing in SO many activities!
